Betty "BJ" Straub passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at her home in Fort Wayne. She was born on December 16, 1932 in Ft. Wayne at home to the late Otto and Edna (Brown) Lanning. She was a member of the VFW for over 25 years. She was a supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Paralyzed Vets, and Wounded Warriors. BJ was a loyal patron of the A&O Sweet Shop. BJ couldn't pass up on a garage sale. She also enjoyed shopping, and gardening. She is survived by one brother, Virgil (Diane) Lanning of Ft. Wayne; children, Steven (Debbie) Douglas of San Diego, CA, Rich (Jacci) Gamble of Kimberling City, MO, and Faith Scheerer of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren Kristi Gan, Russell Scheerer, Michael and James Douglas, Justin Hart, Charity Schindler; great-grandchildren Dalton, Ava and Austin. Preceded in death by her husband, Russell C.F. Straub on September 11, 1995; brothers and sisters; Alva, Orla, George, Pete, Martha, Susan, Mary, Delores, Margaret, twin sister-Barbara, Imogene, Richard. Service is 1:00 pm, Sunday, January 14, 2018 at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue with calling one hour prior. Calling at the funeral home Saturday, January 13, 2018, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Entombment in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
