PATRICIA "PAT" R. (BRICKEL) HART GUMBERT, 83, of New Haven, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2017. Born July 22, 1933, in Hicksville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late James W. Brickel and Mildred M (Easterday) Herrick. She was first married to James E Hart on Jul. 24, 1954. She then married Jerry M Gumbert on Dec. 27, 1975 until his passing on Feb. 26, 2004. She was the office manager for Dr. William J Daly and Dr. J. Paul Downie for 20 years; was employed by the Adams Township Trustee office where she retired after 15 years of service. She is currently the longest serving volunteer for CASA of the Allen Co. Supreme Court and was honored in Nov 2015 for serving 30 years and also received the CASA volunteer of the year award in 2015 from the State of Indiana. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and F.O.E. 3164, both of New Haven. Pat had many joys in life including; cooking, baking birthday and wedding cakes, sewing, and making wedding dresses. She also enjoyed spending time at the lake and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are her children, John Hart, Tammy Hart Daly and James (Lisa) Hart; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; with one great-great-grandchild on the way; and brothers, Ronald Herrick, Richard Brickel, and David Brickel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry M Gumbert; brother Donald Herrick; brother Robert Brickel; one great grandchild; one great-great grandchild; stepchildren, Ron and Sherry Gumbert;. Funeral service is 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven, with calling from 2 to 3 p.m. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Burial to follow service at I.O.O.F. in New Haven. Memorials to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or CASA.
