Robert R. Berghoff, 94, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Lutheran Life Villages at Pine Valley in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Robert was the son of the late Herman and Alice Berghoff. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and earned his bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University. Robert was a WWII Navy veteran. He worked at General Electric for 38 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Eta Kappa Nu and Tau beta Pi engineering fraternities, and Knights of Columbus. Robert enjoyed reading, riding his bicycle, and volunteering at St. Mary's Soup Kitchen. Above all else, Robert loved spending time with his family. Surviving are his 107 year old mother-in-law, Gertrude Miller of Decatur; children, Matt (Sue) Berghoff of Midland, MI, Mark (Mona) Berghoff, Mike (Mary) Berghoff both of Fort Wayne, Ann Reisinger of Westfield, Pat (Cathy) Berghoff of Noblesville;15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Nix, Mary (Max) Cambre both of Fort Wayne, and Carol Cafaro of FL. Robert was preceded in death by his, first wife, Rose Ellen Berghoff, second wife, Mary Jane (Biggins) Berghoff, brothers, Tony, Paul, Tom, Gus, Barney, and sister, Alice Devine. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 am, Monday, February 20, 2016 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with calling one hour prior, Fr. Ajay Tiru officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Sunday, February 19, 2017, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm with a rosary service at 5:30 pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
