Thomas C. Smith Jr., passed away Monday, April 17, 2017. He was born in Decatur, IN, son of the late Thomas and Mildred Smith. Thomas attended Purdue University, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree. After graduation, he served in the US Army. He went on to become a Sales Agent, and worked with Allstate Insurance for 20 years, and then opened his own company, Smith Insurance, retiring in 2006. He was also a member of the John Purdue Club. Tom always had season tickets to the Purdue games. He and his family enjoyed going to the games and tailgating, making memories to last a lifetime. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, and loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and his Beagles. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Martha Smith; children, Tom Smith III, Patrick Smith, Sarah (Joe) Webb, Mike (Carissa) Smith, Kathleen (Trent) Profit, Pam (Lee) Lepley, and Julia (Matt) Connor; 18 grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Thaman, and Ann (Sam) Trentadue. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday, April 24, 2017 at St. Therese Catholic Church 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with calling 1 hour prior. Visitation will be from 2-6PM on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Burial will take place in the Catholic Cemetery Roanoke, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Therese Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association
