Vallie Viola Brouwer, 89, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Fort Wayne after a 13 year battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on October 7, 1928 in Edwardsburg, Michigan to the late Emma (Peckinowsky) and Fletcher Smith.

She lived a full life, always loving and willing to help. She loved her family and grandchildren. Val was an excellent dancer, loved throwing parties, and many will attest, was fanatical about keeping a clean house! She was known to love a cold beer, kept her yard clean, the grass cut, and enjoyed her flowers… She was opinionated, patriotic and strong with her ideals. She raised her boys and ran her household with strong rules and expected them to work hard. Even tho the last few years of her life was robbed of her by Alzheimer's, she still had a smile on her face and would always hold your hand and give you a smile!

Val was preceded in death by her husband Richard and is survived by her 4 sons: Johnathan (Meg) Brouwer, Larry (Diane) Beaty, Terry (Chris) Beaty & Robert (Susan) Beaty, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Calling at D.O.McComb Foster Park Funeral Home, 6701 Fairfield Avenue, Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 4 pm to 7 pm. A graveside funeral services will be privately held. In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made in Val's name to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeast Indiana, 6324 Constitution Dr, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 or alz.org
