Georjean Marie Benecke , 88, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Benecke was born on November 7, 1929 in Fort Wayne, IN to George and Marie (Schieferstein) Roos. She graduated from Central High School. On July 31, 1948, she married Arnold Benecke in Fort Wayne. Georjean worked as an accountant for Zolner Piston and Lincoln Life. She also was a manager at Memory Lane and worked in sales at Hobby Town. Georjean was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She belonged to a senior group at the church. She also belonged to Parkview senior exercise group. Georjean always had her hair styled on Saturday before church on Sunday. She loved to garden, paint, crochet, and finish 1000 count puzzles. Her favorite pastime was being surrounded with the love of her family and grandchildren. Surviving are her son, Arnold (Sharon) Benecke of Crawfordsville; daughter, Deborah Burtnett of Fort Wayne; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Marlene Zaremba of Ossian; sister, Carol Cummins of Fort Wayne; and sister, Sandy Tomkinson of Fort Wayne. Georjean was preceded in death by spouse and parents. Service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11:00am at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46815 with Pastor Doug Croucher officiating. Calling on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm - D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue. Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
